A client shared something she does to get to know people in her company. She invites two people to lunch. She picks up the tab. So far, her invitation has never been declined. And, she has made many starts to good working relationships.

Her story struck me in its simplicity. We were talking about the value of actually getting to know people, and the time it takes. With this tactic, she has met people she might not work with for some time. Therefore, when she did have the need, she had a head start. She has to eat, they have to eat.
