Every year, I imagine the coming twelve months and identify three words that will guide me through the year. This year is starting off with some great work—all committed clients with the possibility of remarkable impact.  On top of that, I am embarking on a project to write and produce a multi-media book. I’ve had this book in mind for many, many years, and now all the moons and stars are coming together to urge me in getting busy on it.

My three words for 2018 relate to my day, my relationships, and my work. In choosing them, I thought ahead to consider what ways of thinking and being will support my outcomes. Here is where I landed—

  1. Intentional—Paying attention, anticipating opportunities, putting that mindfulness into action—applied to even the small activities and interactions.
  2. Curious—Setting aside what I know, listening and probing for new understanding, and seeking without preconceived notions.
  3. Allowing—While driving my plans, also being open to seeing and exploring different paths and ways of thinking.

I put these three words on a post-it note and attach to my computer screen, glancing at them periodically and taking stock especially when I feel off-track in any way.

What are you up to this year? What three words would guide you well?
